Polo Strategico Nazionale S.p.A. is Italy’s national sovereign cloud infrastructure, designed to support the digital transformation of the Public Administration securely, resiliently and in compliance with the national and European regulatory framework.

After being awarded the contract and signing the Agreement in 2022 with the Dipartimento per la trasformazione digitale della Presidenza del Consiglio dei Ministri, PSN provides cloud services to central, local and healthcare administrations, ensuring high levels of reliability, operational continuity and data protection. It is the third pillar of the Strategia Cloud Italia, with the aim of safeguarding the security and sovereignty of public data and services.

Established by TIM, Leonardo, Cassa Depositi e Prestiti Equity and Sogei, PSN brings together industrial expertise and investment capacity within a Public-Private Partnership model that combines technological innovation and institutional governance through shared responsibilities. The infrastructure is distributed across Italy to ensure high levels of resilience, operational continuity and responsiveness to adverse events, helping overcome the fragmentation of traditional data centers and promoting the adoption of a more efficient and sustainable model.

PSN’s model is based on a multi-cloud architecture that integrates private cloud services and controlled access to leading qualified Cloud Service Providers, within a regulated perimeter compliant with the requirements of the Agenzia per la Cybersicurezza Nazionale. This approach meets the Public Administration’s innovation needs while ensuring the highest standards of security, control and interoperability.

PSN supports administrations throughout their cloud migration journey, enabling a structural digital transformation aimed at improving public services and enhancing data as a strategic asset. For PSN, digital sovereignty means managing data and services under national and European rules, along three dimensions: secure data centers in Italy; management and monitoring within the country; and data protection and encryption.
